SERVICES NOT REQUIRING GENERAL ANESTHESIA

Gonioscopy

Ultrasonography

Electroretinography

Eye examination is performed with slit lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, and tonometry. Other exam diagnostics include Schirmer tear testing, fluorescein staining, and rose bengal retention tests. The majority of eye diseases are treated with medical therapy. However some eye problems necessitate additional diagnostic procedures and/or surgical procedures.

 

Additional Diagnostic tests provided by the Eye Clinic include:

  • gonioscopy

  • ultrasonography

  • electroretinography (ERG)

  • corneal cytology

  • corneal culture

  • blood pressure assessment

  • streak retinoscopy

  • blood tests - for systemic disease concern or for preoperative assessment. The blood sample can be taken at the
    Eye Clinic or may be performed by your family veterinarian.

 

Procedures performed without general anesthesia include:

  • corneal debridement with grid or burr keratotomy

  • superficial corneal foreign body removal

  • transcorneal reduction for anterior lens luxation
